CS Ruku Launches Nationwide Crackdown on Corrupt HR Officers

Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has declared war on rogue human resource officers accused of milking the government payroll through ghost workers, tax fraud, and promotion manipulation. Speaking at a press briefing on Sunday, Ruku disclosed that a nationwide crackdown is underway targeting HR officials who have colluded with unscrupulous employees to create fake identities, inflate salaries, and divert public funds into private accounts. "We have identified systematic fraud across multiple ministries. Ghost workers are being paid millions every month while genuine civil servants languish without promotions," Ruku said. Sources within the ministry revealed that some HR officers have been awarding themselves and their relatives fictitious allowances, while others manipulate Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) records to evade tax on illegal earnings. The CS warned that officers found guilty will face immediate dismissal and criminal prosecution. However, skeptics questioned whether the operation would reach senior officials known to be complicit in the scam. This comes as Kenyans continue to bear the brunt of overtaxation even as billions are lost through corruption in the very system meant to serve them.
